I have always been a Ford purist, but watching all of Denham's Fairmont videos, building a shit box 4.8 sedan for the wife sounded like a great idea. With that said and Kool-Aid in hand, I am using the Sloppy Wiki as much as possible to complete the build.
Here is what I have acquired and what is planned:
TOO LATE - 82 Zephyr dream boat - this thing is a time capsule! - 8.8 out of a 91 Mustang with a LSD, 3.08 gears, and a set of extra 3.30 gears - Summit upper and lower control arms - New Strange adjustable front struts and rear shocks - 2002 4.8 with 116k miles - Craigslist "built" TH400, 2800 converter, and B&M shifter - 6.0 Flexplate and spacer (research tells me it will work with my TH400 and converter)
Been a while! Since posting over a year ago, the car has been sitting as my SBF Mustang has been getting all the attention and abuse. Anyhow, the engine and trans are stabbed, along with the 65 Mustang rad and turbo mount. Parts list now reflects the following: - Deka 80s - Full length connectors - manual rack - Pac 1218 springs - AEM 380 pump - VS GT45 - VS WG and BOV - eBay 3" IC - Ford Taurus fan
Well, had a buyer lined up just to bail at the last second, build on!
A pair of eBay v bands, an old downpipe from my 7.3, and a couple combo bends from Speedway made for a decent hotside. I have also decided to swap the truck intake in favor of a LS1 intake for the purpose of hood clearance. If anyone has one for sale along with stock rails, let me know!
Hacked the stock alternator/power steering bracket in half, hogged out the mounting holes, turned 90* clockwise, and my alternator now clears! Painted the hotside, mounted the wastegate, turbo, and plumbed the oil drain. LS1 intake on its way, I'll take the lesser flow in order to clear the stock hood.
