Hello, thought I'd share my 72 Impala, put it together in school a few years ago. It was sitting the junk yard for a long time, and I thought it was too straight to derby so I pulled it out of the yard, and saved it. Current plans are super budget oriented just to get my feet wet. 4.8, 4L80e, gt45, ls2 cam, decaps (probably), PAC 1218s, meth (no e85 in my area), and a pile of burnout tires.
^Here it is in its natural habitat...
I "borrowed" an edelbrock carb kit from a derby car that had a 5.3 swapped in at the time to get it going. Thrashed the shit out of it, and goofed off a lot.
During the time it was carbed I had heavily studied Sloppy Mechanics, fuel injection, standalone ECMs, boosting...
Was the only LS swapped car at the car show.
Pulled the 5.3, and slapped in a 2006 4.8/4L80e combo from this Van.
Reduced the cross over down to 2.5 inch. To get additional room near the electric fans.
I used mechanics wire to hold the turbo up so I could mock up how the pipes merge together. I plan on making the "down" pipe out used 4" duramax exhaust and dumping it out the fender above the wheel well.
I'm going to use the this piece of pipe from the factory y-pipe to put it all together.
Thanks! Yeah I'm excited, the down pipe is all used duramax exhaust. Probably going to buy a second gate, and dump them out of the fenders as well, if not I'll tie one into the down pipe, and run the other one where ever. I have a small Volvo addiction (I have 5), really would love to build one someday.
